Job Description

This position complements the University’s instructional technological capabilities through software and hardware support for classroom technology. The incumbent serves as part of an instructional technology team, reporting to the Classroom Technology Specialist.

Job Responsibilities

Technical skill set to troubleshoot and resolve computing and audio-visual technical service calls.

Working knowledge of PC and Mac operating systems and software, experience with audio-visual technology, wired and wireless networks, multimedia hardware and software, and audio equipment.

Possess the ability to work in a fast paced environment as well as the ability to learn and support new applications and technologies quickly.

Reviews occupational related literature, keeping abreast of current technologies and software upgrades.

Provides technical instruction to University employees concerning software programs and hardware utilized in multimedia presentations.

Responsible for telephone support and responds to Classroom Technology Rapid Response calls and resolves immediate classroom technology emergencies.

Monitors performance of classroom technology equipment on a regular basis and performs routine maintenance.

Maintains utilization statistics and an inventory of classroom technology equipment and supplies.

Acts as a technical resource to faculty and staff in the use of classroom technology and assists in the needs assessment, testing and evaluation of new classroom technology related equipment.

Responsible for troubleshooting, installation, repair and/or replacement of classroom technology equipment when such equipment has failed.

Responsible for utilizing IT’s call tracking system by inputting and maintaining detailed, accurate data in regards to trouble tickets for the purpose of tracking, escalating and routing of tickets to appropriate persons in order to provide timely resolutions.

Interface with other members in Information Technology as needed to provide quality customer service to the university community.

Essential Functions:

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring Department.

1. Provides hardware and software support for classroom technology.

2. Provides technical assistance in the use of classroom technology.

3. Maintains current knowledge of software available to enhance instruction and communication through multimedia presentations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Two (2) years of post-secondary level education.

AND

Experience:
Six months of experience related to the above described duties.
